Svetlana Vladimirovna Medvedeva


Born March 15, 1965 in Leningrad, Soviet Union, is the first lady of the Russian Federation.

She met and began dating Dmitry Medvedev during her teenage years in Leningrad (St. Petersburg). She graduated from the Leningrad Financial and Economics Institute in 1987 as a specialist in analysis of companies’ economic activities. Worked in her specialist area in parallel to her studies. In 1993, she married Dmitry. In 1995, she gave birth to her first child and son, Ilya.

On May 7, 2008, her husband, Dmitry was inaugurated as President of the Russian Federation. As a result, Svetlana became the First Lady of the Russian Federation. As First Lady, she headed the public initiative to celebrate Day of the Family in Russia and became the Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the targeted comprehensive programme "Spiritual and Moral Culture for the Youth of Russia".
